Norwegian police say at least 84 people have been killed in a shooting spree at a youth camp on the island of Utoya, near the capital Oslo. The attack came shortly after a powerful blast shook the government centre in downtown Oslo, claiming at least seven lives. A huge bomb has exploded in the very centre of Norway\'s capital, Oslo, damaging parliamentary buildings including the Prime Minister\'s office. Two deaths have been reported, and at least 15 are injured, but police say more people are still trapped in the shattered buildings. Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg is said to be safe. Preliminary reports suggest it was a car bomb, but some sources say the explosion took place inside the building of Norway\'s biggest tabloid newspaper VG. The blast was so powerful that it smashed all the windows in the 17-storey building. Witnesses say the nearby oil ministry building nearby has caught fire, with thick smoke seen coming from the block. Some reports suggest the blast was followed by a second. Amateur footage has surfaced appearing to show Syrian security forces beating protesters in Barzeh, a Damascus district three miles (five kilometres) from the city centre. The pictures were filmed by a group calling itself Ugarit News on Friday. Defying government guns, thousands of Syrian protesters poured down city streets and a main highway that day to press demands for President Bashar Assad\'s ouster. Activists claimed security forces opened fire, killing at least 15 people, including two children. More than 100 people were injured in Spain as riot police clashed with protesters on Friday, as authorities cleared away a makeshift camp set up as part of a Spain-wide demonstration against the country\'s economic problems. The trouble started when police tried to clear the protesters from a main square in Barcelona. Many of the protesters, who are angry about high unemployment, anti-austerity measures and politicians\' handling of the economy, refused to move. Dramatic footage filmed from a helicopter by Australia\'s Channel 7 shows a series of powerful waterspouts near the coastal suburb of Terrigal, on Australia\'s New South Wales coast. Several powerful columns of swirling air could be seen blasting along the water\'s surface near the coastline. Channel 7 claimed the spouts reached heights of up to 600 metres (nearly two thousand feet), but dissipated as they neared land. Japan has upgraded the severity rating at the paralyzed Fukushima nuclear plant to seven, a level only ever previously assigned to the Chernobyl disaster. Officials say it\'s been raised, because high radiation has been recorded in the air, ocean and tap water. Video has emerged showing the moment pro-Ouattara forces captured Ivory Coast\'s strongman Laurent Gbagbo and his wife at the presidential residence in Abidjan. The footage shows fighters loyal to internationally recognised president Alassane Ouattara storming the presidential palace and seizing Gbagbo and his wife.
