Cannot Access Component (via front end) 6 maanden, 4 weken geleden Karma: 0
I have a custom user group created that I want to access this component via a menu item on the front end. I get the following message when users in this group try to access it.

"You are not authorised to view this resource. Because you are a registered user, you must be an author at least!"

The Super admin account can access it so I know it has to do with an access level. I have adjusted the Permissions as described in another thread here but it does not help. Could you please assist me? Thanks

Hey,
I dont have enough info to help you out like this. It seems like if you misconfigured the component.

However take note that registered user cant add users!

Hello I am facing the same issue as well. I am on Joomla 1.7, have set the "Options">"Permissions" to allow public access to the component and still receive this same message from the original post.

I am planning to seriously add fields etc as you were so kind to even provide in your tutorial but can't see the basic form at all, logged in or not it seems.

I would like the component to be accessible by the public as per my settings in Joomla 1.7.

Hey,
Log in backend and go to component > add user frontend > options

Now click on the tab permissions. You will see all acces settings there.

Now for example if you want to let authors and higher add users you mist click on author. You will see the permissionfields for authors.

Set Acces component and Create User From Front End to allowed and click on the save button.

From now on authors and above may acces and add users from the frontend.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SET PUBLIC ACCES FOR ADD USER FRONTEND. We never want strangers to add users to our website!

If you want to let users register and add your own fields to the form you must use OCR for this: http://www.ghanja.be/en/downloads/components/one-click-registration/details.html

This does not seem to work for custom groups. I have deleted all of the original Joomla groups and recreated my own in the structure I need. I checked the database to make sure that the settings were correct. After adjusting the Viewing Access Rights in Joomla 1.7 everything behaves correctly except for this piece. Reading on some CB threads this appears to be an ACL issue over there as well, so possible a Joomla 1.7 issue with custom user groups and access levels.

I'm not sure why.

Hey Man,
Some changes have been made to the code that may solve your problem. Try redownloading the component and reinstalling it. The version number remains the same but there are some changes in the code.

You can also update manually:
open up:
components/com_adduserfrontend/views/adduserfrontend/tmpl/default.php

find:
Code:

$query->select('map.group_id as gid');
replace it by:
Code:

$query->select('MAX(map.group_id) as gid');
If it still doesnt work. Try configuring the component on menu level. You can set the component parameters attached to the menuitem linking to that component. I hope this helps Kim
